Transplant Facility
Our Facilities provide consultation for treatment of patients with hematological diseases;
- Chemotherapy
- Immunotherapy
- Cellular therapy
- Biotherapy
- Bone Marrow Transplantation
Division of Hematology/Oncology & Transplant Center
Offers hematological and oncological services, with special expertise in hematological malignancies, bone marrow transplantation in solid tumors and red blood cell diseases.
In multidisciplinary conferences for specific forms of cancer, members of the Division join physicians from surgery, radiology, pathology, and other disciplines to review patient problems and potential treatment modalities.
Laboratory services include a highly sophisticated blood bank, servicing complex marrow and organ transplant programs.
Staff physicians participate in multidisciplinary clinics that provide comprehensive diagnostic and treatment evaluations for benign and malignant disorders in:
- Stem Cell Transplant Unit (11 bed)
- Infusion Center (outpatient therapy unit)
- Apheresis Unit
- Chemotherapy Ward (12 bed)
- Stem cell cryopreservation Unit
Division staff members are involved in the evaluation and prevention strategies for all types of cancers including new therapies and multidisciplinary treatments. In addition, biological modifiers, immunological agents, and therapeutics targeting new mechanisms of actions are utilized. Members of the Division pioneered the development and use of immunosuppressive drugs that made bone marrow and organ transplantation possible.
Transplant Types & Accreditations
Hematopoietic stem cell and marrow transplantation are important programs within the Division. The transplant unit is a 11-bed facility certified by Ministry of Health, European Transplant Registry (EBMT) and United States and International transplant registry (ASBMT/CIBMTR) for conduct of autologous, allogeneic, matched-unrelated, mismatched-related, cord-blood and reduced intensity transplants, including haploidentical transplants. Transplant unit is also certified as Unrelated Donor Harvests by EBMT. The Unit is supported by the Extracorporeal Photopheresis unit for treatment of Graft versus Host Disease (GVHD).
Units at Hematology & Transplant Center
- Blood Bank and Apheresis Unit
- Stem Cell Collection and Cryopreservation Unit
- Cellular Therapy (Donor Cell Infusions)
- Hematology Infusion Center
- Extracorporeal Photopheresis Unit
- Cutaneous T-Cell Lymphoma Program
- Hematological Malignancy Program
- Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Program
- 11-bed dedicated Bone Marrow Transplant Inpatient Unit

- The Lymphoma Therapeutics Program
- Autologous transplant program for Autoimmune diseases (Multiple sclerosis, ITP, Scleroderma, Crohn's disease)
Infusion Center
Infusion Center is a state-of-the-art facility that provides chemotherapy, parenteral antibiotics, and infusional support, in addition to education and psychosocial services. The Center for Extracorporeal Photopheresis provides novel therapy for graft versus host disease (GvHD).
Hematology / Oncology & Transplant Program
Hematological Malignancy and Bone Marrow and Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation Programs include clinical research in high dose chemoteherapy and long-term outcome for bone marrow transplants.
The new transplantation Unit was inspected and certified by Ministry of Health in 2020. The Bone Marrow Transplantation Program is a comprehensive service that performs both autologous and allogeneic transplants, peripheral progenitor, matched related and unrelated, mismatched related, cord-blood, haploidentical, and reduced intensity allogeneic transplants. It has pioneered utilization of extracorporeal photopheresis in acute graft versus host disease following allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
The Bone Marrow Transplantation Multidisciplinary Team is comprised of physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, social workers and administrators specializing in all aspects of stem cell transplantation for adult patients. The Bone Marrow Transplantation Program is heavily supported by specialty programs based in the Divisions of Intensive Care Unit, Pulmonary Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Renal Medicine and other specialty services of the Medical Center.
